As the reserve of oil, coal and other traditional energy sources dwindling, people are facing serious energy crisis, which motivated the research and development of wind power technology actively. H-type vertical axis wind turbine is a new wind turbine. The group is formed with a lot of H-type vertical axis wind turbines up and down. It has a good startability and its efficiency is high. However, H-type vertical axis wind turbines group needs a support tower which has a large volume. Reasonable structural design has been the key point to the realization of the power generation technology. However, the research is still in the blank stage at home and abroad. The research on the support tower of H-type vertical axis wind turbine were carried out, the specific work as follows.Firstly, Status of wind power technology was introduced, the classification of turbines and the status of the support tower of wind turbine were explicated. Then a new H-type vertical axis wind turbines group was introduced, To the new H-type vertical axis wind turbine group, the characteristics and working principles of the support tower of H-type vertical axis wind turbines were analyzed. Based on the theory of the existing tower design, the design requirements and design elements of the tower were explicated, especially for the details of structure selection.Secondly, with the wind turbine support tower of 80 meters, research on the performance of structural seismic was carried out. According to the vibration mode analysis, stiffness distribution and vibration modes were obtained. On this basis, the response spectrum analysis of the tower was carried out. Because the response spectrum analysis doesn't take into account geometric nonlinearity, and the results dosen't indicate the weak story, dynamic linear time history analysis and dynamic nonlinear time history analysis were carried out. According to the comparison of the results, the influence degree of P-â–³effect on the tower was obtained. According to the comparison of results between the response spectrum analysis and dynamic nonlinear time history analysis, the applicability of the response spectrum was obtained.Thirdly, with the wind turbine support tower of 80 meters, research on the performance of structural wind resistance was carried out. The performance of the tower under static wind load was carried out. Then the dynamic nonlinear analysis of the tower was carried out with dynamic wind load, and the comparison of the performace of the tower with different loads cases were carried out, the influence degree of wind-induced dynamic on the tower were obtained.At last, according to the design requirements of engineering, design points of the support tower of H-type vertical axis wind turbine and mechanical properties of the tower, different structure selection and design were carried out for two different projects.
