The contact is the key part of high voltage isolator, the work condition of the contact influence the safety of the electric grid directly. The failure process is a process with the contact resistance increasing, and the contact temperature is increasing in the process. Thermal phenomenon is serious, and it makes the contact resistance increase further.From the thermal phenomenon and the rust phenomenon, we find the reason which is contact with the failure of high voltage isolator in the article. At the same time, from the aspect of influencing the contact conductivity, we find the factors of influencing contact failure, such as temperature, stress and environmental factor.Different temperature can affect the failure of the contact. The temperature field of the contact which is corresponding to the different contact resistance can be simulated by ANSYS. Because the temperature is corresponding to the contact resistance, the failure of the electrical conductivity which is influenced by the temperature can be got.The contact stress can influence the failure of the contact. The stress which can influence the failure of the contact, which is influence the contact resistance, it is made by the stress which is produced between the contact and the stress which is produced between the sensing finger and the touch board. The stress which is produced between the contact made by the touch stress when there is no current in the contact and the electric repulsion. When we do not consider the stress which is produced between the sensing finger and the touch board, if the distance which is inserter by the moving contact is different, the touch stress which is produced between the contact is also different, so the failure of the contact is different. According to the operational experience, we can get the best inserted distance which can made the failure minimize.In the course of study, the acceptance way of new product can be bring up.
