Comparing the operating characteristics of boht Pitch Control System's Backup Power and Ultracapacitor, after study I found Ultracapacitor is suitable for Backup Power of Pitch Control System. Ultracapacitor Energy Storage Device as Pitch Control System's Backup Power will significantly extend the lifetime of Backup Power and enhances the reliability of Pitch Control System, as well as improves the reliability and use time of Wind Turbine.This paper decribes the requirements for Pitch Control System's Backup Power, reviews the characteristics and delelopment status of various energy storage technologies, and as well points out the research significant of Ultracapacitor Energy Storage. This paper decribes the principle and characteristics of Ultracapacitor and the physical model and meanwhile analyze and study the key technologies of Ultracapacitor Energy Storage. Afer research and study I found the voltage balance circuit is necessary when Ultracapacitor is applied in series. Here a non-dissipative active balance circuit is worked out to keep ultracapacitor valtoge and achieve valtoge balance amont ultracapacitors. Then this paper describes normal charging mothod and characteristics of ultracapacitor as well introduces the modus and the control methods of BUCK circuit. At last based on the principle of the detection circuit with high-performance MCU as main part I worked out the block diagram and flow chart of Ultracapacitor detection circuit's core control program. The detection circuit detects the ultracapacitor's real-time voltage and provides the babis for voltage balance. Thus ultracapacitor works more efficintly.
