With the rapid economic development, the heat load in various regions grows very quickly. The increasing steam is demanded in industrial production and the growth of the heat load is bound to generate considerable economic benefits to the power plants. However, the distance between most industrial users and power plants is relatively far and the current national codes can not meet the status of industrial development. The problems are the most concerned and pressing in power plants concerning how to allocate in a sensible way the steam heating supply initial parameters, flow, diameters, thermal insulation and piping layout, so that both the pressure loss and temperature drop keep within a reasonable range, not only meeting the needs of users in steam parameters but also greatly extending the heating supply distance.In this paper, steam heating supply initial parameters, flow, diameters, thermal insulation and piping layout are optimized by the method of numerical calculation. First, the relation curves that pressure and temperature vary with the length of the pipe in different diameters and steam heating supply initial parameters are simulated by numerical calculation. Then the fitting formulas that show temperature and pressure varying with the length of the pipe are set up and applied to the process of the long distance heating supply. The maximum distance in long distance heating supply is calculated using the computer programming. Finally we change rules of the steam heating supply distance with factors such as initial parameters, flow, diameters and thermal insulation etc. The ability of the steam heating supply is analyzed under the typical parameters.In this paper, theoretical research is applied in pipeline engineering of heating supply network by the method of combing theory and practice. Through verification in actual project, the method of numerical calculation in long distance heating supply is improvingly accurate, especially in the maximum distance of steam heating supply in different parameters. It can solve the technical problems existing in the long distance heating supply and provide technical reference for adopting long distance steam heating supply in power plants.
