As an effective method of strengthening the soft soil, the surcharge preloading with pack sand wells is used widely to treat the soil ground in lots of projects which have strict requirement on post-constriction settlement and uneven settlement. Observation of the settlement and stability is the most reliable method that controls the construction speed for ensuring the safety and stability of the embankment and evaluates the effects of surcharge preloading. In this paper, the behavior of the deformation and consolidation of soft ground under highway embankment were studied thoroughly according to large amounts of in-site observation data in wuying Highway, the determination of post-constriction settlement were discussed, moreover, the large-scale finite element software ABAQUS is used to simulate the real soft soil foundation engineering. The elaborate work involves several aspects as follow:1. Based on large amounts of field observation data, characters of the deformation and consolidation of soft clay foundation under embankment were studied in details, and the behaviors of the settlement, lateral displacement and pore water pressure were analyzed systematically.2. Adopt Extended Drucker-Prager model and appropriate model parameters, and apply the large-scale finite element analytic software ABAQUS in conducting a numerical simulation on Wuying high-way. To consider the soft soil creep on the finite element model results, failure to consider the creep Variable are model results and in-situ measured results were compared respectively, the results by comparison show that the soft soil creep finite element is more in line with the in-situ measured results and better reflects the true law of Sub grade Settlement.3. Apply ABAQUS finite element analytic software to make a numerical simulation on the thin round of filling constructing method, and the results show that:thin round adder Construction safety is obviously more rapid to achieve roadbed construction, sparing more pre-press time, making more good economic effect。4. A variety of optimization and comparison of method of predicting roadbed settlement are attempted to find most appropriate method, Finally, the effects of surcharge preloading in wuying highway were evaluated.
