| In pace with the deepening of reformation and opening, the rapid development of computer communication and internet technology has provided unprecedented opportunities as well as challenges for both enterprises and institutions. It has become an irresistible trend that a network platform will be built to improve the office networking and automation so as to fully implement the information sharing and communication.For this reason, the present paper aims to design and develop a plan of office automation based on the LotusDomino/Notes platform, build a cooperation platform on the basis of LotusDomin, and develop an interface for non-structured NoteS database to access structured Relational database. The present office automation system has received positive feedback of greatly increasing the internal managing level as well as the working efficiency after its application to the practice in the own institution.Chapter One provides a general introduction to the purpose of the present study and relevant researches at home and abroad; Chapter Two gives technological analysis of the Lotus Notes/Domino involved in the new system; Chapter Three introduces the concept of document workflow and then explains in detail the realization of document workflow with the help of Lotus; Chapter Four makes detailed illustration of the design and realization of the office automation system in the own institution; Chapter Five presents the way to realize how to convert between the Notes database and Relational database.
