The converter station is a typical structure with suspension masses and it is one of the critical facilities in current direct transmission engineering construction, and the converter station is also one of the essential structures in the electrical system, and it has its own mechanical characters. With the high development of our country's electrical network, valve hall is widely used in our country, but there are so few people have systematically studied with the aseismic performance of the valve hall. As the valve equipment especially the valve sets have exceptional requirements with the environment and earthquake-resistance, more attention should be given to the earthquake-resistance of the valve hall.At present, there is no item related with the design of valve hall.Valve hall of Converter station, in essence, is one type of structure equipped with suspension-mass. The main contents of this paper can be summarized as follows:First, we established one-span of the FEM of valve hall. By considering different type of ways in suspending masses, the time history response of the structure have been studied, different length of the cables also be considered, then, the results of the effects are given. Finally, we conclude the force and deformation of the structure by using time history of earthquake.Secondly, the FEM of the valve hall with the simplied suspension-mass have been set up. Static analysis of the structure has been executed while in different circumstances, and the dynamic analysis also be executed. Some conclusions are drawn about its characteristics of time and cable force, and cable force magnified while use different earthquake waves in same peak value. The change of Capital displacement and toe axial force of column were discussed while the structure with or with out suspension masses. Finally, we discussed the change of cable force while the structure under strong seismic action. Capital displacement and toe axial force of column were discussed. The conclusions could make reference to design and construction in correlative projects.
