In recent years, air-conditioning industry faces great pressure due to copper prices continually rising. On the other hand, the new energy efficiency ratio standards implemented this year, have greatly improved EER of air-conditioner put into market. If continue to use traditional heat exchangers in air-conditioner, the material consume and cost would rise greatly. The brazed aluminum heat exchanger with louvered fin and parallel flow tube has such advantages as high compactness, low weight and low cost. It has achieved aluminum instead of copper in air-conditioner and provided a new research field for the development of household air-conditioner.This paper analyzed the influence of the parameters, such as wind speed, flow depth, fin height, fin pitch and louver pitch and so on, to the air-side flow and heat transfer characteristic of the brazed aluminum heat exchanger with louvered fin and parallel flow tube. An experimental study on the air-side flow and heat transfer characteristic of the multi-region louver fin which is a new structure developed by our program group was conducted. It analyzed the influence of Re and the number of louver regions to the air-side flow and heat transfer characteristic of the multi-region louver fin. And the general correlations for j and f factors were developed.Selected a foreign brand split household air-conditioner for the prototype. First, designed and produced the brazed aluminum condenser with louvered fin and parallel flow tube. Then, designed and made G and J models of brazed aluminum evaporator with louvered fin and parallel flow tube with two core bodies. And experiment study was conducted about the two models. The result showed the overall thermal hydraulic performance of G model with two core bodies was better than J model, but can't compared with the prototype air-conditioner. Improved G model with two core bodies, and produced G model with four core bodies. Experiment study was conducted about the G model with four core bodies. The result showed its overall thermal hydraulic performance was a little better than the prototype air-conditioner. At last, the split household air-conditioner with the brazed aluminum condenser and evaporator both with louvered fin and parallel flow tube was produced, and compared with the prototype air-conditioner. The experiment research was carried out to research the influence of refrigerant flow rate and wind speed to overall thermal hydraulic performance of the split household air-conditioner.
