Recently, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted significant attention due to its advantages of low cost, ease of fabrication to large area and potential of acceptable conversion efficiency. In order to improve the photovoltaic performance and stability of DSSCs, we developed several new DSSCs sensitizers in order to enhance the conversion efficiency and stability of the cells. The organic compounds with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) have excellent emission properties at aggregate state or solid state. They can get tunable intensity and wavelength of emission by adjusting molecular structure, twisted conformation, rigidity of structure and stack morphology, which have greatly scope of practical applications, such as organic light-emitting diodes, chemosensors and biosensors etc. This article focuses on the structures and luminescence mechanism about AIE.The main contents and results are generalized as follows:In Chapter 1, Recent development of high-efficiency sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells and aggregation-induced emission materials is reviewed. In Chapter 2, Two novel organic sensitizers have been designed and synthesized. They are successfully adsorbed on nanocrystalline anatase TiO2 particles, and subsequently efficient dye sensitized solar cell have been fabricated under irradiation with standard AM 1.5 sun lightIn Chapter 3, Two polysubstituted 2,2'-biindenyl fluorophores were prepared and characterized crystallographically. Some theories used to explain AIE are introduced including restriction of intramolecular rotation (RIR), preventability ofπ-πstacking by twisted conformation, J-aggregate state and interm olecular C-H/πinteraction.In Chapter 4, we synthesized a series of diarylbenzo[k]fluoranthene PAH derivatives. One of the compounds designated as DPBF-TPA is Successfully applied for the production of bule electroluminescent devices. In Chapter 5, Conclusion.
