The reliability of power supply is greatly depends on the 10kV switch assemblies which are very important power supply units in the 220kV/110kV power station, but the operation of the switch assemblies is not very well according to the analysis of Guangdong Power Grid. The temperature rising of switch assemblies often comes up ,and even make the power failure because fabrication,transportation and installation. Each accident of the heavy load switch assemblies makes the transformer tripped, losing large load and causing the switch assemblies damaged. As the development of switch assemblies in the past 20years, the internal structure of the switch assemblies has changed very much. The space become smaller but the load is heavier, so the temperature rising of switch assemblies is easier to occur. The traditional measurements of temperature are useless for the switch assemblies, so we must discover a new method to monitor the temperature of switch assemblies.At fist, the author analyzes the characteristic of 10kV switch assemblies temperature measurement through learning the document, many researchers at home and abroad are paying attention to the wireless switch cabinet temperature measurement and the Fiber Bragg Grating temperature measurement. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. We compare the methods to each other for making sure which method is better, and find the Fiber Bragg Grating temperature measurement has further application. Second we made a detailed scheme and establish a Fiber Bragg Grating temperature measure system in 110kV Lingshan power station with the cooperation of a company and achieve a very well practical application. The system run stable in the past 4 months commissioning. In order to learn further knowledge of the two methods, we established a temperature measurement system using wireless method in 110kV Dazhou power station also. The data collected by the both method shows that the Fiber Bragg Grating temperature measure is the better method.Finally, this paper introduces an online monitoring system of contact temperature on High-voltage switch assemblies using Fiber Bragg Grating method. The system can adapt to the requirements well, it can be widely used in the temperature measurement of 10kV switch assemblies.
