Manasi river watershed is an representative inland river in the arid area of Xinjiang, the water resouce of alp slush is a primary source of Xinjiang inland river, the runoff of mountain pass from the river basically represent the total resouce of inland basin. In recent years, along with the rapid development of industry and agriculture, living water and producing water are more and more tense, and the water pollution, unreasonable application of the water resource, these reasons urge people to process quantitative study to ensure the reasonable attemperment and application of the water resource. According to the SWAT distributed hydrology model which is recognized rather mature in international hydrology circles, this paper simulated the water resource of mountain pass in Manasi river , and got the central conclusions as follow:(1) Established SWAT distributed daily runoff model of Manasi river, and calibrated the model with the 11 years actual metrical datas about the daily runoff from 1980 to 1990 in the Manasi valley, and validated the model with the 5 years actual metrical datas about daily runoff from 1991 to 1995 in the Manasi watershed, the simulated result was a little smaller than the metrical result, but it was basically indicatated the actual change trend. The results indicated that the relative error between the simulation results and the metrical daily runoff was 20%, the correlation coefficients R2 exceeded 0.8, Nash-suttcliffes coefficient exceeded 0.7. Therefore, the application of SWAT model in typical watershed in the Manasi was successful and reasonable,and the model was deserved to be extended further.(2) Ice snowmelt has an distinct adjusting effect to the runoff of Manasi river. The air temperature of the river is low in winter, and the Runoff is very small, but after the spring, the runoff of Manasi river becomes more and more larger, especially in the early summer. This change indicats that the ice snowmelt is a main important part of Manasi river, at the same time, it shows that air temperature is the very important direct effective factor to Manasi river runoff change.(3) The simulative result of Manasi river SWAT model has an sensitive reaction to some factors, include: air temperature,tprecipitation,snow; beside these ones, the model also has an sensitive reaction to some parameters,such as CN,Timp,Alpha_Bf and so on.(4) The simunative mechanism of SWAT model is considerate, besides the precipitation,temperature, it also considerates wind,humidity,solar,reservoir and so on, especially the effect of sonw and snowmelt to water cycle. This model is not only propitious to Manasi river but also to the other arid areas of Xinjiang.
