With the intensification of the global energy crisis and the worsening of environmental pollution, it is urgent to find a new way to solve all the energy and environmental problems. In a sense, Solar energy is getting more and more attention for its unlimited, easy to obtain, no pollution, Stand-alone photovoltaic system is an effective way to use of solar energy. There is a growing emphasis on it.This paper discusses the design of a stand-alone PV system. We have to make better use of the solar energy. And we also have to charge the battery efficiently. First, photovoltaic system background and characteristics of solar cells are introduced. Based on the traditional stand-alone photovoltaic system, a new method of block diagram of this paper is proposed. Second, this paper introduces the commonly used DC conversion circuit and maximum power tracking technology. The design of the system was proposed based on Buck topology and Perturbation and Observe algorithm for maximum power tracking. This paper also proposes a new way of lead-acid battery charging method, which combined with maximum power tracking technology and intelligent chip UC3906. Third, this paper designs the system hardware and peripheral circuit using the DSP chip dsPIC30F2010. Finally, this paper sets up solar panels model and the maximum power tracking model using PSIM simulation software and the DLL module. The results show the feasibility of the design.
