In ultra-short baseline acoustic positioning system, in order to achieve high precision positioning of the submerged submersible ship, the underwater acoustic transponder system is designed. The paper uses the wideband linear frequency modulation signal to measure the transport time of the signal. And with the receiver and transmitter, this system realized reception and transmission of the wideband linear frequency modulation signal. And the thesis discussed in detail three kinds of operating modes of the transponder system. After the system design completes, an experiment was carried on. The results showed that the most important function of the transponder system is 2000 meter at slant range. In order to achieve a more precise positioning accuracy, a systematic analysis for the design and implementation of this transponder system was conducted. High signal to noise ratio filter chip LTC1562 is used to achieve an 8-order Butterworth band-pass filter, and a detailed discussion for the circuit layout and the selection of circuit parameters is also carried on to improve the receiver's noise. D-power-amplifier is used in the transmitter and the drive-circuit is designed by integrate chip. In order to reduce the interference that the transmitter brought to the receiver and the digital control circuit, the transmitter was designed separately from the other two parts. As the main processor, DSP is used to detect the signal and produce the response signal. And the response signal is transmitted by the transmitter. The thesis completed hardware and software design of the transponder system, and achieved system's design target.
