With the development of power electronic, more and more power electronic equipments have been used in most fields, which have facilitated production and life, but also deteriorated power quality by injecting non-negligible harmonics and reactive current to the grid. The current takes series effects on power grid and electrical equipment, its energy waste can not be ignored either. Active Power Filter is the most effective equipment in harmonic control. Compared with LC filter,APF has advantages of rapid response, more effective and dynamic compensation, it becomes a research hotspot. The paper mainly studies theories and technologies of harmonic suppression based on three-phase grid.This paper deeply studies the concept and hazards of harmonics and the theory of harmonic suppression, focus on the ip-iq method based on instantaneous reactive power theory, detailed analyzes the mathematical model and principle of three-phase Active Power Filter, completes the design of main circuit, some auxiliary circuits, and also command current generator and taking control module. This paper improves the tacking method of the frequency of volt in ip-iq operation way, applies it in the design of command current generator. This paper completes the design of command current tracking control module based on the algorithm of Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM). This paper simulates the Active Power Filter with SimPowerSystems in Simulink of Matlab. The results demonstrate the affectivity of harmonics suppression of the design in this paper.
