The Construction Of Courtyard Space In The Urban Residential Area Under The "silver Tide"

The aging population has become a prominent social problem in the world as the development of social economy,declining birth rate and the raising level of medical care.It comes along with faster and more serious pace of population aging since China enters into aging society in 1999,the problem of population aging has drawn the government.the community and even the international's concern.The living environment has become an important foundation of their lives after the elder turn to the family from the society.They need a safe,quiet,convenient and comfortable living environment more than anything else.Settlement space is the closest and the most frequently used living space of with the elderly,which directly affect the quality of older's life.Courtyard,as the most traditional forms of organization of architectural space,has its unique elements and characteristics of spatial composition.The purpose of this study is to combine the courtyard space which has undergone a number of years together with modern evolution of design methods to create a suitable living environment for older persons'live and summarize the principles of design techniques from regular principle.We hope to get a positive answer to the settlement courtyard space designed comes with"silver tide"through this research.This paper is divided into six chapters.The background,purpose, significance,methods,research status and defining the relevant concepts were introduced in the first chapter.The second chapter describes the needs of the elderly from the physiological,psychological and behavioral characteristics three parts.The third chapter describes and summarizes the formation and development.elements and spatial characteristics of traditional courtyard . The Chapter IV analysis the background of the modern urban residential courtyard space and the shape way of the space specifically.Chapter V selects typical cases for investigation and analysis in Tianjin and summarizes the current problems.Chapter VI of this paper is the part of the innovation and conclusions,which summarizes the methods and elements in our courtyard space which is suitable to the elderly living.
