Gearbox is a kind of widely used speed and power transmission device in many mechanical devices. The working environment of speed increasing gearbox on the compressor machine workbench is bad. And the speed is very high. But the performance of speed increasing gearbox will directly influence the working performance of compressor machine. So the detail static and dynamic analysis of gearbox housing is necessary.Taking the related structure size parameters of a high speed increasing gearbox housing as input, the main part has been built and assembled by the 3-D modeling software PRO/ENGINNER. The complicated three-dimensional solid model in Pro/E has been transformed into finite element model in ABAQUS, and Structure analysis is made by the Finite Element Analysis software ABAQUS. Based on the structure analysis, structure optimization design is made by the software OptiStruct.Structure analysis of gearbox housing is made with finite element method, and the structural improvements are proposed based on the results of the finite element analysis. The main contents are as following. The structure strength of gearbox housing is studied when the gearbox works under normal conditions. The modal analysis of gearbox housing is made by the finite element analysis software ABAQUS, and the natural frequency and modal shape are obtained. The evaluation of the gearbox housing is given. The optimization of quality and structure is realized with software OptiStruct according to the analysis results of static and dynamic characteristics. The static and dynamic characteristic is ensured after the improvements of gearbox housing. With the FEM analysis, the static and dynamic characteristic is obtained, which is used as available reference information in the structure design and performance analysis.
