Overlapping propeller is a new energy-efficient and damping special propeller, which is currently being studied. It is in improving the critical speed at the same time can effectively prevent cavitation. It also can reduce the hull vibration induced by propeller and radiated noise. Its structure is simple, so use and maintain easily. Thus it has broad market prospects. In this background, this paper stacked overlapping propeller as the research object, using a numerical calculation method, carry out hydrodynamic performance of overlapping propeller research. In this paper, using CFD software to calculate hydrodynamic performance of overlapping propellers based on B, MAU and DTRC4119 of common propeller. And also calculate the hydrodynamic performance of three type common propeller which correspond overlapping propeller. We give two kinds of propeller surface pressure of cloud, water flow velocity vector and the wake diagram. In certain J condition, compare overlapping propeller with ordinary propeller that can draw some useful conclusions.L / D andθare the most significant two parameters which different from the normal propeller. We fix one parameter, and the other is changed regularly. The hydrodynamic performance of overlapping propeller which has different combinations of L / D andθare calculated. And we render the data into diagrams of KT-θ, KQ-θ,η0-θand KT -L/D, KQ-L/D,η0-L/D. We can obtained some useful patterns by analysis and compare these diagrams. In this paper, based on potential flow theory and surface panel method, we establish the numerical calculation method about hydrodynamic performance of overlapping propeller and write the corresponding FORTRAN program. Using this program, calculate three types overlapping propeller's hydrodynamic performance and compare with the result from FLUENT software in order to verify the reliability of the results.
