In recent years, with the steady improvement of our living standard and the high speed development of electric utility, the industrial and urban and rural residents electricity consumption transcription tend to be more and more. In addition, our electrical equipments scattered distribution adds the difficulty of the consumption transcription and the purpose of the data transcription is not only to be the evidence of electricity charge but also to do real-time monitoring and management and to supply the data support for analysis and decision of administrative department of electric power. Apparently, the traditional style which is widely used at present is hard to adapt to the new complex requirements. Therefore, it is time to improve current style of the consumption data transcription, use the advanced automatic meter reading techniques urgently.The paper mainly design a watt-hour meter data concentrators of the watt-hour meters auto-transcription system. It proposes the whole embedded smart meter data concentrators design and realizes software and hardware parts base on the study the functions, composition principle of the whole system and the concentrator. It selects the uplink and downlink firstly, takes the ARM9 (based on the ARM920T kernel, S3C2410X) as the CPU, extends the peripheral interfaces and connects the system with GPRS module for uplink through a serial port. It takes the multitasking, portable, clipping Linux2.6 embedded operating system as the soft platform, makes the cross-compilation toolchain, modifies transplants the operating system kernel and root filesystem. Designs and accomplishes the system application program base on the analysis of the uplink and downlink protocols in detail.Finally, the whole design work is summarized, and the places which are needed to expand and be improved in the future are also listed.
