Suspension bridge-one type of strongest capability of span in all bridges, fomous for its attractive apprearence and quick construction, is named as "the queen of bridges". Long-span bridges all over the world maily apply suspension. The main force characteristic is that loads tr-ansmit from Sling to main cables and then trough pylons to anchors. All of this transfer is sim-ple and clear. With the development of design and constructive technololy of long-span suspe-sion bridge, and lots of new strength materials appear, the span is increasingly longer. Messin-a Strait Bridge with 3300m of span is under construction. And sea-cross bridges with more th-an 4000m span have been on the agenda. As the span increases, the suspension would be mor-e flexible, and the problem of wind static stability will become more prominent. Then heavier damages happen without no pre-burst before air static instability. This should be avoided in the bridge design. As we all know, in Japan earthquakes occur frequently. The steel structure is the better choice in all policy. The reason is that steel is lighter than concrete structure, and its wei-ght causes small inertial force in an earthquake. Therefore, steel pylon is one of the most effec-tive measures for earthquake resistant. In cente and west of China, mountains are natural barr-iers for strategic development. So bridges or tunnels, especially suspension bridges of long-sp-an are offen applied in building important traffice routes. And earthquakes occurr frequently and cause large damages to people's lives and property, such as earthquake happened in Wen-chuan in May 12,2008 and Yushu and in Yushu in April 14,2010. Therefore, in this areas st-eel can be used on pylon in building long-span suspension bridges.This paper generally introduces about suspension bridge steel pylon:its applicaction at home and abroad; summarize its structure and type; joint types of sections and joint beween py-lon and fudament; linear and geometric nonlinear analysis of it under wind load; dynamic per-formance of analysis of wind force load and main dynamice permormance of free stand-ing tower. Hope this paper will be helpful in suspension bridge design and construction in fut-ure.
