Study On Traditional Dai Village Landscape In Dehong's Western Yunnan

Dai nationality is one of the minority nationalities of China, which belongs to the ancient Thai-Dai Ethnic Group in Southeast Asia. It is joined by common mountains and rivers with Burma and Thailand, as well as their culture and living custom. The Dai has created the unique culture and beautiful surroundings that outshining in China. For the otherness in distribution of Dai, there have difference and sameness in the landscape of Dai villages. This paper chose the landscape of Dai villages in Dehong State in western Yunan area. The reasons are as follows, on one hand, it can make up a deficit to the deficiency in research of Dai villages in Dehong State, while on the other hand, in the process of comparing to the other villages, we can get a more comprehensive and clearer realization of Dai living environment, enrich the researches on our country's minority, providing an example for the consideration of improving living environment.Firstly, the paper introduced the location survey of the Dai villages in Dehong State, including the natural environment and cultural background. After the investigation of its distribution, which can ensure that it distributed along the warm wet river. The villages are characterized by both Daile and Daide for the influence of Multiple Cultures.Secondly, through the research of the outside surroundings, it can be concluded that the Dai villages in Dehong State featured in'a dam and a river between two mountains'. Besides, for the differences in the location between the villages and the landscape, there exist two features: green island type and back mountain type. A new concept is proposed—green landscape, which is the green space between the architecture and natural environment, having an impressive impact on the layout and the landscape of the Dai villages. Thirdly, through the research on the space features of the Dai villages, the paper discussed about the space layout in detail, and it also analyzed the garden space, the public space and the road space, which find out the 'Poetic Inhabitation' of the Dai villages, the real modal for garden-like living area.Fourthly, this paper analyzed the landscape elements of the Dai villages, and conclude that the Dai villages have gentle terrain, variable waterscape, cross-cultural architecture, beautiful vegetation and religionary facilities.Finally, this paper parsed the landscape of the Dai villages from both environment and religion, and summarized its aesthetic feature and spiritual connotation. In addition, the paper also talked about transmitting and advocating the Dai villages from both spirit and shape. Hope that the garden-like harmonious living space as Dai villages can be transmitted and advocated.
