Cold Production refers to no sand control or steam injection, directly producing oil and sand by artificial lift method after perforation especially in developing heavy oil reservoir, it is usually amplify production pressure drop to encourage sand production in the cold production process, which will enhance oil production accordingly and access to a good economic benefit in many oil field's applications. Cold Production mechanism has been widely accepted and basically reached a consensus that it is unnecessary to control sand or inject steam, it will greatly reduced oil field development costs. Cold Production have two main recovery mechanism, one is to create "worm holes" and improve the permeability of reservoir, the other is to produce the bubble oil, which will provide an internal drive energy for oil production. To set up the experiment model and carry out simulating tests under different conditions, the production pressure drop could be optimized and the critical production pressure drop could be determined, which is used to predict the sand production time and situation. The production forecasting model of cold production with sand flow will be presented to instruct the on-site production.
