In this work, a novel injectable poly(N-acryloylglycine) (PNAG) hydrogel wassynthesized on base of glycine. The pH/temperature sensitivity and application in drug releasewas been studied. Poly(N-acryloylglycine)-chitosan (PNAG-CS) was prepared and it'sswelling behaviors and drug release profile were also discussed. In this paper, we synthesized N-acryloylglycine on base of glycine, benzyl chloride andacrylic. Then the poly(N-acryloylglycine) (PNAG) hydrogel was prepared. The molecularstructures of the corresponding monomer and polymer have been confirmed by FTIR and 1HNMR measurements. The sol-gel transition behaviors of PNAG in its aqueous solution wereevaluated using test tube-inverting method, as a function of PNAG concentration, pH, andionic strength. The swelling behaviors of hydrogel PNAG were systematically investigated atdifferent temperatures and PNAG concentration. Using caffeine as a model drug, the in vitrodrug release behavior was been researched. In addition, PNAG has showed degradability tosome extent.By the introduction of natural chitosan, we firstly prepared the pH/temperature sensitivePNAG-CS hydrogel. The effects of temperature and pH on the swelling behavior of hydrogelwere systematically studied. In addition, the caffeine controlled-release from the resultingpH-temperature sensitive polymer hydrogel was also investigated as functions of pH valueand temperature by UV spectrophotometer.
