In order to propose a new type of axial flow cyclone to apply on natural gas pre-separation industry, different structure cyclones were used in the resistance characteristics, solid particle separation and liquid separation experiment. The structure parameter's effect on the separation performance of cyclone tube was got and a new type of axial flow cyclone with the characteristic of high efficiency and low resistance quality was proposed by a combination of the structure parameters. The results showed that it was consistent between structure parameter's effect on gas-solid separation and gas-liquid separation. Increasing the intensity of flow rotation was conducive to gas-solid separation, but not to gas-liquid separation because of enhancing the degree of entrainment of liquid. It was showed that the effect on resistance characteristics and separation efficiency were guiding blades and votex finders. It was concluded that the optimal blade structure was 20mm of width and 30°of blade angle, the optimal votex finder was cylinder-cone-type, the optimal separation distance was 2 to 3 times of cyclone diameter. It was not evident effect on separation efficicency when the secondary air was low.The gas-liquid separation efficency of new type axial flow cyclone achieved above 94%, which can basically eliminate the solid particles above 25μm. The flow distribution was analyzed by flow field measurement and numerical calculation. The results showed that the front cone had a good guiding influence on airflow, a low static pressure district existed near the core of cyclone, the tangential velocity existed in the form of Rankin vortex in the cross-section, the cylinder-cone-type vortex finder could inhibit the backmixing phenomenon of particles. It was also found that Asymmetric flow and converge flow existed nearby the exhaust pipe, and vortex in the exhaust pipe.
