Offshore oil engineering have some characteristics which include high risks, high investment and high-yield. It plays an important role in the utilizing of resources in every country. It is also an effective complement for less and less resources on the earth. As the elementary facility of exploitation in offshore oil and gas resources, the safety and reliability of offshore platform determine the development of a country's offshore oil engineering. Reviewing the huge disasters and events occurred in the history of offshore oil engineering, they were not only caused seriously economic loss, but also brought severe environmental pollution. For example, marine environment was damaged seriously.Offshore platforms were in a complex marine environment on long term. They suffer many kinds of loads, not only work load, environmental load, but also some risk loads which include fire and explosion. Many disasters may come with these risk loads. Statistics show that the events caused by explosion were accounting for a large proportion of all offshore platform events. Although Piper Alpha oil platform, P-36 oil platform and Deepwater Horizon drilling platform are huge monster, they are all damaged in explosion events. How to reduce the loss caused by explosion events effectively is a very difficult problem.The destructive effects of shock wave caused by the explosion in offshore platform mainly embody the damages on human and structure. We can compute the level of casualties of human and level of failure of structures in the explosion event by equivalent TNT method. It may help rescue after the explosion.Offshore platform mainly use blast wall to prevent itself from the shock wave load. The blast wall divides offshore platform into two areas——working area and living area. The overpressure of shock wave will reduce a lot after encountering blast wall. So the blast wall prevents living area from explosion load. By using ANSYS software and transient dynamics method to analyze the dynamics response rule of blast wall in two conditions, we can find out the weak links of the blast wall. One condition is the different volumes of oil and gas, the other is the different distances from the explosion source. So we can optimize design and heighten effectiveness of blast wall according to the analysis to reduce the damage range caused by explosion shock wave.
