With the development of the computational technology and the theory of finite element, numerical simulation has been an important method for the optimization of the fluid mechanics. This thesis focused on the newly developed swirling abrasive water jet cutting window tool. Using the method of numerical simulation, optimized the geometric configuration of the tool. The core components of the tool are the swirling jet nozzle and the impeller. From the basic characteristics equation of nozzle and impeller and geometry analysis can be seen, impeller outlet angle, vane number and nozzle diameter are the main influential factors of swirling abrasive water jet efficiency. With the method of the numerical simulation, simulating different combinations of the impeller and nozzle, obtained the structural characteristic of the swirling water jet and influential law of the related parameters on the swirling water jet spread angle. Simulating erosive action of the single abrasive particle on casing, gave variation process of the casing stress-strain field and abrasive particle displacement-velocity field, and influential law of the related parameters on the eroded depth. With the full-size simulation of the swirling abrasive water jet cutting window tool, obtained the fluid-particle two-phase distribution of the interior and exterior of the tool, and the erosion attack of the swirling abrasive water jet on casing. Then optimized the impeller and nozzle parameters which meeting requirements of the cutting window, and verifying the correctness of numerical simulation results by the comparison of the numerical simulation results and the experimental results.
