Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a non-contact machining technique with little cutting force between workpiece and electrode, which results in its great application on micro-shafts, micro-holes and 3D micro-components.Precise micro-EDM system is the essential equipment for micro-EDM research. Nowdays, Micro-EDM machines have stepped into the stage of industry application and commercial distribution in some developed countries, whereas, these machines are prohibited goods to our country. Thus, it is urgent for us to develop high performance micro-EDM equipments. Mechanic system have a great impact on its performance of micro-EDM, so the practical micro-EDM mechanic system are studied in this paper.Based on the analysis of the features and the requirement of the equipment of micro-EDM, a set of micro-EDM system based on linear motor is developed. The system uses a axis NC moving table drived by linear motor with both the resolution are 0.1μm, achieved high-precision, high speed, fast response of machining systems. Using high-precision spindle, radial runout is less than 2μm, the speed is between 1 000 ~ 12 700 rpm. System equipped with machine vision micro system, provides an effective means for the observation micro-machining line and measurement. To set the electrical components in the control cabinet in the reasonable area, design easy installation and compact control cabinet model.To simulate the static and dynamic properties of the machine. Static characteristics of the machine including: machine tools and total machine of the static deformation; and dynamic features, including the natural frequencies, corresponding vibration modes and forced vibration response, etc. After improving the design of the structure, under the action of an external load, the maximum structure deformation achieve required precision. In the modal analysis, Get the system first six natural frequencies and mode shapes, large difference is between the frequency of calculated and sources of the relatively, so the resonance does not occur.To simulate the power cabinet temperature field, simulate the machine in the processing of working, then analyze, to improve the location of vents and exhaust fans ,make improvement of the structure.
