In this essay, we prepared seven ternary complexes of rare earth with nitrate compounds of rare earth, 4-Pyridinecarboxylic acid, 2-(2-furanylmethylene) hydrazid and 1,10 phenanthroline by reflux in the ethanol-methanol. We prepared another seven ternary complexes of rare earth with nitrate compounds of rare earth, 4-Pyridinecarboxylic acid, 2-(2-furanylmethylene) hydrazid and salicylic by the same method. The products were analyzed by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectra, UV-Vis spectra, H1NMR XRD, XPS, SEM and TG-DTA analysis. The formula of fourteen complexes respectively are [RE(FLSY)(Phen)(NO3)2]NO3, [RE(FLSY)(Lin)(NO3)]NO3•H2O (FLSY:4-Pyridinecarboxylic acid, 2-(2-furanylmethylene)hydrazid,Phen:1,10-phenanthroline,Lin:salicylic,RE: La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, Y3+, Er3+, Sm3+). The antibacterial activities testing showed that all these complexes exhibited excellent antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with broad antimicrobial spectrums. We use invert microscope(IM) and methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT)colorimric to test the anti-tumour effect of the complexes with Hela tumor cell. The research shows that the complexes can inhibit Hela tumor cell's growth, generation and induce apoptosis. The median inhibitory dose (ID50) of complexes is from 0.5~10μg•ml-1. The interaction of the rarearth complexes with DNA were studyed by UV, fluorescence spectrum, CV analysis and agarose gel electrophoresis etc. The results indicated that the interaction of the two complexes would bind DNA by intercalation. Meanwhile we believe they will have broad prospects in application.
