Environmental reasons are the cause for the increase of research, development, andproduction of waterborne systems, particularly those based on polyurethane. These materialsfind a special application as binder for paints, coatings and inks formulation. In the Paper, the acrylate-modified waterborne polyurethane were obtained, based oncore-shell emulsion copolymerization method. The prepolymer based on isophoronediisocyanate (IPDI) and polytetramethylene glycol (PTMG), dimethylol propanic acid(DMPA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), 1,4-butanediol (BDO) were synthesized inbulk. The prepolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR).FTIR curves showed the acrylates has successfully been embed into the waterbornepolyurethane. Appearance, viscosity, stability and peel strength of WPUA core-shell emulsionand bibulous rate and tensile strength of latex films were discussed based on DMPA, R, MMAand solid content, etc.. The good compatibility of the polymer was demonstrated by SEM andmolecular structure was investigated by TEM. WPUA emulsions has better performance, under condition that R value is 2.5, the 8:2 and solid content is 35%-40%.On the other hand, the waterborne polyurethane with organic silicone was synthesized,in which PDMS was also added. The properties of polyurethane were affected by the differentcontents of the organic silicon. Experiments indicated that the performance will change whenthe content of organic silicon was 10% or 13%.The modified waterborne polyurethane in optimum conditions was used to preparewater-based ink, then experimental formula was determined and some simple performancetests were done. The results showed that the ink with waterborne polyurethane has goodwater content and adhesive attraction. The stability was not very wonderful. Although theperformance of the acrylate and silicone compound modified waterborne polyurethanes werebetter, the ink made by them has same with other waterborne polyurethanes. |
