This study is carried out on the basis of analyzing how the urbanization process may have influenced the land-use pattern in Fengxian District, Shanghai, since the local urbanization rate is now quite rapid. We selected three main streams in Fengxian for Buffer analysis, with different buffer radius of 100m,200m,300m,500m,800m, and 1000m. We intend to find out how the land use patterns in the buffer area have been changed by urbanization and how will the impact be further developed.We picked out the data from 15 stations in 2000,2003 and 2008 that represents different urbanization periods. In these data, five proxies, including CODmn, CODcr, BOD5, NH3-H and TP, are used for practicing correlation analysis with different land use pattern. The results are shown below:(1) The result shows that there are four periods in economic development of Fengxian District.â…°. Steady develop period (1985-1991),â…±. Fundamental develop period,â…². Development transition period,â…³. Rapid develop period. After a thorough urbanization process and industry pattern adjustment in the past 20 years, the proportion of secondary and tertiary industry in the total increase product value are 60% and 30% respectively, indicating the secondary industry is still the major industry in Fengxian The result also implied three major periods of population increment.â…°. steady increasing period (1985-1999),â…±rapid increasing period (2000-2004),â…²re-increasing period. In 2009, statistic showed the resident population of Fengxian is 0.77 million, among which only 30.07% are farmers.(2) As the data of land use pattern showed, proportion of land that is used for farming and suburban residential dropped down to 19.46%, while land for residential, green land, land for industry and land that covered with concrete have increased to 2.23%,4.82%,10.08% and 25.64%. These figures imply a significant decrease in area of farming land and suburban residential land. From which the faming land has been proved by the transfer matrix of land use pattern, to be the major source of land for urbanization, while the most suburban residential land has been transferred into industrial land.(3) Three buffer areas closed to the main streams in Zhu Port, Jinhui Port and Punan Canal are chosen for analyzing land use pattern transition, and the result indicates human activities are mainly concentrated in these buffer areas, especially within the area of 500m in radius. As the radius increases, industrial land decreases and other urbanization process degenerate, while farming land and suburban residential land increase relatively.(4) Data from 15 observing stations in Fengxian District during 1998-2008 showed the water quality is poor, with NH3-N and TP contribute over 60% of pollution together. Correlation analysis of pollution and land use pattern in different radiuses of buffer area reveals CODmm, CODcr, BOD5, NH3-H and TP are positively correlated with industrial land use and other urbanization process, while they are negatively correlated with the area of green land and farming land. Among all these different radiuses, the radius of 500m showed the most significant correlation. As the radius increases, the correlation of water quality and LUCC deteriorates. All these analysis tell us that the land use pattern transition, brought by urbanization process, is the main reason for the water pollution of in the urban area. |
