The exploration of deep sea becomes much more necessary in this era, and South China Sea is rich in oil and gas resources. To satisfy the demand of oil field exploration, the conception of FDPSO(Floating Drilling Production Storage and Offloading system) became a popular research field in offshore engineering.This paper is divided into three parts to introduce some problems in the design of FDPSO, and analyze some mechanical issues in FDPSO-TLD system:1. Comparing several FDPSO systems that have already been used in Brazil and West Africa, introducing some design problem that exists in FDPSO system, such as:moon-pool design, heave control problem of tension leg deck, vortex induce vibration of riser under ocean current, dynamic position of FDPSO;2. Numerical research of FDPSO-TLD system. Build the model of out-side weighted and in-side weighted TLD system, simplify the model as sheave-rope system and level system, and add the control system in out-side weighted model;3. Carry out the FDPSO-TLD principle-experiment test by using the real-time substructure method to verify the theory of the system. Compare the results between the experiment test and the numerical simulation.
