It is a severe challenge to the world especially to China with the reserves reduction and high prices of fossil energy. High temperature coal tar is aromatics and pahs resource treasure but actually it is a kind of by-products in coking industry. So it could become the important alternatives of oil in some extent after deep processing for liquid fuels or high value-added chemical raw materials. But now the main disadvantages of coal tar process-ing in China are small scattered scale, low processing depth and serious pollution. There-fore, the development of clean and effective green coal tar deep processing technology is very necessary.High temperature coal tar was selected as the research object and methanol which the critical temperature is only 240.5℃was used as extraction solvent in this study. Tetrahy-dronaphthalene was also added as donor hydrogen solvent in a batch high-pressure reactor. The reaction rule was explored in this research.Experimental results show that in experimental conditions,using supercritical metha-nol to processing high temperature coal tar, which can make coal tar achieve some degree of thinner in mild conditions, light oil yield (W %) rise from 65.10 that is the oil yield of raw material coal tar to 78.19, H/C improved 28.24% comparing to the light oil in raw coal tar, and improved 109.62% comparing to the raw coal tar; Pressure and temperature have great influence on distribution of the product, increasing temperature is not conducive to increase light oil components yield; Increaseing pressure can get more light oil components; The reaction time had little effect on the product distribution. FT-IR shows that,through supercritical extraction, it can make lots of high value-added products accumulate in light oil components,which is helpful for further processing utilization of coal tar. GC-MS anal-ysis shows that, reactions, types of substances in light oil components has no change ,it just has a change in quantity; In the situation of low temperature, the degree of the polycon-densation reaction reaction system is greater than heat cracking reaction .
