Polypropylene (PP) is widely used due to its desirable performance. However, its high flammability greatly limits its extensive application. Therefore, it is important to flame retardant PP. Generally, halogen-containing flame retardant PP is prepared by adding bromine compounds such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) or decabromdiphenylethane (DBDPE) and antimony trioxide into PP matrix. However, its easy migration, relatively low effectivity and weak aging resistance limit its further application. With more and more people concerning about environmental protection, more and more attention has been attracted on low-halogen, anti-migration, anti-aging and efficient flame retardant polypropylene. In this paper, a new enviromental-friendly flame retardant FR6000 containing P-N-Br was used to prepard flame retardant PP and PP/Talc composites with good comprehensive performance. And then it was compared with Decabromodiphenyl Ethane (TDE), Octabromobisphenol (TBAB), Tri(2,3-Dibromopropyl) isocyanate (TBC) in flame retardant PP, including mechanical properties, flame retardancy, anti-blooming and ultraviolet ageing resistance. The main contents and achievements are listed as following:Firstly, the comparative study of FR6000, TDE, TBAB and TBC in flame retardant PP was done. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the flame changed little. Among the four flame retardant PP systems, only PP/TDE system can not achieve UL94 V2 rating, and the twice burning time was total more than 30s. In addition, the bromine content of PP/FR6000 system was only 4100ppm, which was far lower than the others.Secondly, the effects of different FR6000 content on the mechanical properties and flame retardancy of flame retardant PP were investigated. The results showed that, when the FR6000 content was 2.0wt%, the mechanical properties and flame retardancy of PP/FR6000 were best: the LOI was 29.0%, and the twice burning time was 12s.Thirdly, the thermal stability, UV aging resistance and anti-blooming performance of the flame retardant PP were investigated. The TGA results showed that, the initial weight loss temperature (To), the extrapolated terminate temperature (Tt) and the maximum weight loss rate temperature (TP) of PP/FR6000 were higher than those of the other flame retardant system; the QUV test result indicated that, the color change of PP/FR6000 before and after the aging test was much smaller than the other flame retardant system, and theâ–³E was only 15.9; the impact strength, elongation at break and melt index of PP/FR6000 which is after QUV 48h test were superior to other systems, and the changes were 7.3%, 4.2% and 8.7%, respectively. The constant temperature and humidity testing and FTIR results showed that, the order of resistance to blooming was TBAB
