Pentachlorophenol (PCP) is a kind of persistent organic pollutants (POPS), because of the extensive use of, PCP and residues have caused lasting damage, PCP has been of great concern due to it's persistence in the environment. The distribution and influential factors of PCP in the water of Guangzhou section of Pearl River during the Asian Games and before the Asian Games were studied on this paper. Heterogeneous Fenton has high catalytic activity and could used in a wide range. Degradation rules of PCP by heterogeneous Fenton and influential factors were investigated in this paper. The main conclusions of the work are drawn as following.The detection rate of PCP was 100% at different sampling points during the Asian Games and before the Asian Games, the concentrations of PCP were 3.5-10.9 ng·L-1 before the Asian Games, concentrations of PCP during the Asian Game were 3.0~6.0 ng·L-1, lower than those before the Asian Games, the rehabilitative measures contributed to their differences. PCP was also detected in the sewage treatment plants, concentrations were 4.8-6.2 ng·L-1, that affected the water quality of Pearl RiverThe rate of photocatalytic degradation on PCP followed first-order kinetics, and Fe-pillared bentonite/UV/H2O2 have high catalytic activity in a wide range of pH values (5.0-9.0). The results showed that the rate of degradation on PCP reached 98.0% under the conditions of the solution pH of 9.0, Fe-pillared bentonite dosage of 50.0 mg·L-1, H2O2 concentration of 0.6 mmol·L-1, reaction time of 80.0 min。Degradation rate still reached 80.0% in despite after Fe-pillared bentonite used three times, and the concentration of Fe ions was lower than 0.5 mg·L-1.The results showed that there is no significant differences of the inhibited effects by four common cations, while significant differences by four common anions, and the sequence of four anions inhibition capability for PCP:CO32->NO3->Cl-> SO42-. HA restrained the degradation significantly, and enhanced with the HA concentration increased.
