The hydrophobically associating polymer developed by the Southwest Petroleum Institute is water-soluble with few hydrophobic groups on the water affinity macro-molecule chains。The researcher thinks that the water-affinity parts may lead to dissolve in the aqueous phase system readily, and the hydrophobic water parts to form the reversible association structure in the solution due to accumulation. Comparing with the conventional polymer solution, the hydrophobically associating polymer has such characteristics as higher viscosity, anti-higher temperature and salinity, and anti-shearing ability. To learn more about the hydrophobically associating polymer, an evaluation on its oil displacement performence is conducted. At present the two-phase flooding, three-phase flooding and foam flooding all show poor anti-shearing underground which means an urgent alternative. The evalutions include the hydrophobically associating polymer's physical and chemical performance,the polymer solution's performance, thus the determination of its prescription,the polymer's adsorption performance in oil layer, the polymer's injectivity,the polymer's oil displacement effect and the extent of recovery enhancement which gained by core tests. The study is expected to provide the reasonable basis for the future field tests.
