| Currently, dye wastewater is usually treated with the combinative method with flocculation and biology. Flocculation, generally used as a pretreatment method plays an important role in treatment of dye wastewater. Polymer is now widely used as flocculant. A new kind of hyperbranched polymer, which is densely covered with a large number of reactive functional groups, was modified and used to treat dye wastewater. The researches related to the performance of hyperbranched polymer and the decolorization of dye wastewater were first reviewed. The flocculability of simulated dye wastewater with hyperbranched polyester quaternary ammonium derivatives was analyzed. The mechanism of flocculation with hyperbranched polyester quaternary ammonium derivatives process was studied. The main researches and conclusions are given as follows:The paper first studied the flocculation with hyperbranched polyester quaternary ammonium derivatives (named as flocculant MHP). Influences of flocculant MHP dosage on decolorization of acid and disperse dyes were analyzed. The results indicated that:the flocculation of flocculant (MHP1,MHP2 and MHP3), which is derivatived with short carbon chain C1, showed the similar changing trend:the effect of decolorization enhanced with the increase of flocculant dosage, the intensity of flocculation was in the order of MHP1 |
