Discharge quantity of iron ore tailings are increasing day by day along with the speed development of iron and steel industry, incremental requirement and decreasing grade of ironstone. So how to comprehensive utilize iron ore tailings more scientifically and effectively, reduce the cost on operations management of tailings and increase the economic benefit of dressing plant, decrease the pollution and damage to ecology environment in around area of mine, have becoming more and more important. Studying on vegetative growth characteristics affected by tailings, discussing landreclaimation with tailings and building ecology-friendly mine are very crucial.Two kinds of plant chose as the object of the experiment investigation were shallot and mung bean. Test objective is investigating vegetable growth by changing certain conditions, such as proportion, gradation composition and fraction of iron ore tailings, and pH value of soil environment. Tailings of diversified proportions would accelerate the growth of shallot while its root system were developed and make no difference to mung bean. When the proportion of tailings in soil is 30%, growth of shallot would be restrained only while the fraction of tailings is -0.043mm, and advanced while the fractions of tailings are the other sizes. When the proportion of tailings is 50%, growth of shallot would be restrained obviously while the fractions of tailings are -1+0.1mm and -0.043mm, and advanced visibly while the fractions are-2+1mm and -0.1+0.043mm. Growth of mung bean would be restrained while the fractions of tailings are -1+0.1mm and -0.043mm, and not influenced basically while the fractions are -2+1mm and -0.1+0.043mm, in the same proportion 30%. Tailings of diversified fractions would restrain the mung bean if the proportion of tailings is 50%, and have no influences to growth of mung bean if the proportion is 70%. Shallot would be restrained by tailings while their ball milling times are 1min,3min and 5min if proportions are 30% and 50%. When the ball milling time is 8min, tailings would accelerate growth of shallot if proportion is 30%, and restrained shallot if proportion is 50%. Growth of mung bean would not influenced by tailings of diversified ball milling time with proportion 30%, and restrained by tailings of diversified ball milling time if the proportions are 50% and 70%. If there is no tailings in soil, depression effect got by shallot will be reinforced as the pH value of environment going up. When the proportion of tailings is 30%, shallot would be restrained only while the environmental pH is 9. When the proportion of tailings is 50%, shallot would be restrained obviously while the environmental pH are 7,8,9 and 10. Changing the proportions of tailings and mediating environmental pH at the same time, would have no distinct influences to growth of mung bean.Choose proportion of tailings in soil, gradation composition of tailing, and environmental pH regarded three factors of orthogonal test, and make analysis of variance to test data. The outcomes of orthogonal tests about shallot indicates that the influences caused by the proportion of tailings are more remarkable than that caused by gradation composition of tailings and the pH values of soil, the best conditions to growth of shallot are that the proportion of tailings in soil is 15%, fraction of tailings is percent of -0.043mm not exceeding 57.44, pH value of environment is 7. The results of orthogonal tests about mung bean indicates that the influences caused by the gradation composition of tailing is the most remarkable, the influences caused by the proportion of tailings is the second most remarkable, and the pH value of environment make no differences to mung bean, the best conditions to growth of mung bean are that the proportion of tailings in soil is 30%, fraction of tailings is percent of-0.043mm not exceeding 64.35, and soil environment is close to neutral.By analyzing all consequences comprehensively about these experimental investigations, conclusion can be got:the vegetation in the area of Yunxi tailings dam can be replanted while the proportion of tailing is not exceeding 70%, pH value of soil environment is between 7 and 9, and the fraction of tailings is percent of -0.043mm not exceeding 64.35.Due to that medicaments are always contained in tailings, content of subsequent tests are influences of plant caused by diversified medicaments mixed into soil with tailings.
