With the wide application of new technology about sulphur recovery and tail gas treatment, the optimization of the sulphur recovery plant is in the order of the day. In the filed of sulphur recovery, people focus on decreasing the emission of SO2 under the rigorous environmental requirement. So it endows the study of the application of sulphur recovery technology and catalyst with new meanings.This article detailed described the general situation of sulphur recovery technology and the development of catalyst,the running of Dalian West Pacific Petrochemical Co.Ltd (WEPEC) sulphur recovery and tail gas treatment plant. Among them, the author emphases on the study of plant rebuild and the uses of catalyst on the plant. The article reviews the operational parameters of WEPEC 8×104t/a sulphur recovery plant and the examination of the catalyst application results.After the examination, we optimized the operation conditions,and effectively enhanced the operation stability of the production unit. The data indicate that the activity and stability of the catalyst reach the anticipated specifications.The overall performance of the production unit proved to be the best amoung the same sulphur recovery units in domestic oil refinery and partly upto international standards.1.The catalyst takes on good activity, the activity of the catalyst is high and the convertion is suitable.2.According to the material balance of sulphur recovery and the process of tail gas treatment, the recovery efficience is high.3.The plant consumes lower energy. The energy consumption of the plant decreased.
