The traditional material of furniture and interior decoration was wood or solid wood-based boards. However, wooden material was less and less day by day. We wish that we can produce better wooden product with less wood material because it not only saves costs of the products but also relieves the condition of lacking wooden material. Honeycomb composite boards were a kind of hollow boards which core material was honeycomb shape. Its ratio modulus of elasticity and ratio modulus of rupture is high, so they were widely used. When traditional honeycomb paper core was used to be padding material in furniture, compression strength of honeycomb paper core was low and the end gluing area was small, so the compression strength and MOE of composite boards was not high. At the same time, when they were composted with cladding board, glue consumption was high due to smearing glue in whole cladding board. In fact honeycomb paper core also had many advantages such as light weight, insulating heat. In order to make use of these advantages, this study try to improve method to make a new kind of light furniture material—wooden material enhanced honeycomb core composite board. The producing method is adhering a MDF supporting battens whose width are equal to honeycomb unit's and height are equal to honeycomb core's in the splicing of adjacent honeycomb units, then the end of honeycomb core is composted with cladding boards. The mechanical property of wooden honeycomb composted boards were greatly improved thank to gluing area and supporting area were larger. At the same time, it retains the function of sound insulation and heat insulation, and improves the waterproof capability of composted boards.The study chose single-factor experiments and orthogonal experiments and selected three parameters including side length of the honeycomb unit, the thickness of supporting battens, the rates of stretching which had effect on the boards' properties, then studied when these parameters combine with thin middle density fiberboard, thin plywood and thick plywood, how the three effective parameters influenced the composite boards. Moreover, Modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, plane compressive strength and lateral compressive strength were tested in the study.The study results showed that properties of boards which were clad in thick plywood were best. The effect of side length of the honeycomb unit was largest, the effect of the thickness of supporting battens was smaller, and the effect of the rates of stretching was smallest. Finally, the papers analyzed destroy modes of boards when they endured different kinds of load, and summarized the regularities of destroying and the causes.The test results of this study were helpful to practical manufacture. We knew how the three effective parameters influenced the composite boards'mechanical property and obtained some regularity. These all provided practical manufacture with t basis for selecting parameters.
