Smart clothing is the garment which contains function of perception, feedback and response. It can be classified to two sorts: intelligent textile and electronic smart clothing (ESC). Intelligent monitoring garment system (IMGS) is one sort of ESC in this project, it can capture body's physiological information through sensors installed on clothing, and send these message to personal computer by some communicating methods, at last, personal computer in this system can surveil and dispose these information at real-time, then IMGS is completed and can monitor alieni juris (like infants, the aged)'s physiological information for real-time at long-range.The whole system consists of two sections: hardware and software. Effects of hardware is acquiring and transforming physiological information, including amplifying processing in acquiring procedure and conversion processing in transmission procedure; function of software is monitoring, analyzing and managing received information(saving data or alerting).Hardware means monitoring garment prototype and central computer. Monitoring information mainly be acquired through garment prototype. Basing on different physiological parameters, garment prototype can be designed into several modules. This paper contains only two physiological parameters: sphygmus and body temperature, so two function modules have been contained in this prototype. Design thought of function module base on theory of signal acquiring and transferring, after capturing original data through micro-sensors fixed in garment, original data can be amplified, converted and transmitted to computer by some means, then section of hardware is completed. Transmitting mode can be adopted wired or wireless according to means used between garment and computer, they have respective advantages and shortcomings, confined to time and technique, wired mean have been adopted for separating garment and computer center, then real-time monitoring can be achieved at some long-range. What's more important is the computer which is used for monitoring center should possess preferable hardware and enough internal storage and be able to work continuously for 12 hours, it the only way to guarantee monitoring work can be carried on uninterruptedly.Software means monitoring program designed in central computer, its concrete function is displaying, analyzing and managing monitoring received information. On the basis of this project, we have developed a program which can show real-time information of sphygmus and body temperature, analyze received information briefly for whether they pass the normal range or not, and save these data for analyzing work in future, all of this work have been completed on LabVIEW8.20 graph programming platform. At the same time, some space for other modules which will be added in future has been obligated special for upgrade.When whole system has been completed, some experiments have been designed for estimating reliability of system , they are accuracy evaluation experiment, synchronization evaluation and stability evaluation. Through analyzing experimental result, we can conclude that monitoring garment system can satisfy expected target basically and can monitor physiological information continuously for a long time(about 12 hours), this work can provide some reference basis for home-based monitoring garment design.
