With the development of offshore oil industry, submarine pipeline has been widely utilized since it is one of the most important parts of offshore oil technology and transportation system. Pipeline laying technology is relatively complicated and high-risk. The critical step of installation is to transport pipeline to the preconcerted sea area, and during this process the wind, wave and current have a great effect on submarine pipeline. To reduce the cost and risk of transportation and installation, it is very important to calculate the environmental loads and check the strength and stability of the pipeline. This paper is according to the sonils submarine pipeline project located at Luanda oil quay of Angola, and focuses on the installation process of a 600m submarine pipeline based on surface tow method. It covers the pipeline installation method, strength and deformation analysis during surface tow, and on-bottom stabilities in trench. The analysis results show that all installation methods selected are able to ensure the security in the entire installation process, and the mechanical properties of the submarine pipeline, like the strength and stability etc, are also meets the demand of relevant codes and specifications.
