Here we analyzed the flow field and pressure drop of the grill structured packing and gauze packing by soft ware FLUENT.When study the flow field and pressure drop of grill structured packing, we use the turbulence modeling to analyze five different length-width ratios packing in five different fluid flow condition,single gas phase flow. Through the simulation result we can find that when the velocity is fixed change the length-width ratio will change the flow condition of fluid, when we fix the length-width ratio and increase the velocity of the fluid the pressure drop will increase also. All of this indicates that the structure of the structured packing have obviously affect on flow field and pressure drop of grill packing. And when we consider the pressure drop we can't ignore the backflow within structured packing. Compared with the traditional pressure drop calculate formula, we find that if we use this formula which used to calculate the corrugated sheet packing to predict the pressure drop of grill packing the residual is large. So when we computer the pressure drop of grill packing we can't use the traditional formula.When analyze the metal gauze structured packing, we used the turbulent model an porous medium model. The gauze packing zoon are approximately considered as porous medium zoon when simulation. In order to exactly know the influence of gauze packing structure on pressure drop and other transfer performance, especially change the pitch of wave. So we study the relationship between pressure drop,flow fluid distribution and change of the pitch of waves under the same packing height. Through the result we can find that there has a parabolic relationship between the pitch of wave change from little to large and the pressure drop when packing height is a constant. In a specific Angle of gears with minimum pressure drop, which illustrate that when we want to achieve the optimized design of gauze structured packing we can consider changing the size of gears, thus maybe we can receive good result. Compared with others result the result is accordant with the formers.Use CFD to analyze the flow fluid and transfer condition of structured packing doesn't need a lot of experiments and a lot of experimental data of measurement, only required us to input some relevant physical parameters and structure parameters.
