Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) have been widely used as brominated flame retardants. In the past of 20 years, PBDEs levels in the environment and human are increasing. Studies have indicated that PBDEs were ubiquitous in the global environment. PBDEs has became the hotspot of the environmental science and about its analysis method and pollutant research has just started in our country.A method was established for determination of PBDEs gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Microwave assisted extraction was used to extract PBDEs in the biota and the cleanup procedure includes acidic silica, basic silica and silver nitrate silica. In order to study the distrbution of PBDEs and its debromination products in the mice, the mice were exposured BDE-209 for different time and doses. Mice were administrated by gastro-gavage with 0, 40, 80, 160 mg·kg-1 BDE-209. The exposure time was 15, 30 and 60 days, respectively. Concentrations of PBDEs in the mice tissues of liver, spleen and kidney after exposure were detected by GC/MS. It has been found that BDE-209 debrominated and the PBDEs accumulated in liver, spleen and kidney. The major congeners found in mice were BDE-183,BDE-153,BDE-99 and BDE-47. Difference of PBDEs concentration and composition in the different tissues may be associated with the ability of absorption and metabolism.
