Firstly,2'-carboxyl-2,4-dihydoxybenzophenone was prepared by the Friedel-Crafts reaction using resorcinol and phthalic anhydride as raw materials, nitrobenzene as solvent in presence of aluminum chloride as catalyst. The synthesis process was optimized. The best experimental condition was that aluminum chloride:resorcinol:phthalic anhydride was 3.5:1.2:1. reaction temperature is 30℃, reaction time is 18 hours. Yield is 73.7%. The chemical structure of the product was confirmed by FT-IR,'H-NMR, UV. The product had broad ultraviolet absorption at about 284nm and 316nm.A new water-soluble ultraviolet absorbers based on polyethylene glycol and 2'-carboxyl-2,4-dihydoxybenzophenone was synthesized. The synthesis process was optimized. The best experimental condition was that DCC/DMAP was the catalyst and n(UV-C)/n(PEG) was 2.4:1. Reaction time is 24 hours at room temperature Conversion rate is 76%. The chemical structures of the product were confirmed by FT-IR,'H-NMR, UV. The product had broad ultraviolet absorption at about 286nm and 317nm.The influence of different molecular weight of polyethylene glycol on the water solubility of the product was studied, The photostability was estimated by percentage of remanet, which was computed by UV absorbance. Investigated the stability of pH and the compound stability of the products with surfactant was investigated. It is concluded that the products have good photostability and good compound stability with surfactant.A new water-soluble ultraviolet absorbers was synthesized with UV-C and amine-terminated polyethylene glycol which was prepared by Gabriel reaction using polyethylene glycol as raw material. The conversion was 78%. The chemical structures of the product were confirmed by FT-IR,1H-NMR, UV. The product had broad ultraviolet absorption at about 284nm.It's solubility and the most solubility in the water was studied. The photostability was estimated by percentage of remanet, which was computed by UV absorbance The stability of pH and the compound stability of the products with surfactant was investigated. It is concluded that the products have good photostability and good compound stability with surfactant.
