China is a multi-pit country, in which open mining of iron ore as a whole accounted for 90% of the total iron ore mining. In the open iron ore operations, dump security issue is very important. The stability of dumps related directly to the mines safety in production, and also involves the safety of surrounding environment and nearby residents. This article relies on the Stability analysis of Old Ridge Dump of Gongchangling Open Pit Mine. It was studied that the stability of dump factors and evaluation. Gongchangling Open Pit Mine is in Liaoning Anshan - Benxi area, and it is famous for the output of Anshan Iron (banded Iron Ore), especially rich iron ore. In the open-pit mining process, the waste rock covered a lot of land, so that the original green environment became into barren wasteland. Annual flood and landslide of the dump had a direct threat to the safety of lives and property of nearby residents. In order to protect the safety of local residents and the mining production, this study carried out to determine the stability of the dump.Research includes the field engineering geological survey and the establishment of the geological model of dump slope. Then the dump landslide failure mode was determined and the limit equilibrium method was used to analyze the dump slope stability.Through this research, slope stability analysis and evaluation of dump can be done, and dump treatments can be guided in the future. It's very meaningful for analysis and evaluation of stability of dump, disaster treatments and mine reclamation.
