The main fan of coal mine is the key equipment ensuring the safety of coal mines and underground coal miners. The fan works in a ventilation of safe, reliable and efficient way to ensure production of that coal. However, due to long-term continuous working of the fan, kinds of hidden failures and risks will appear in the working course of coal mine fans, these failures and risks will lead to serious threat to safety of coal mine production. Therefore, to install a on line monitoring and control system of coal mines fan with real-time alerts and displaying real-time data of the fan in the way of form or animation is necessary.On line monitoring and control system of coal mines provides operators a more intuitive understanding of current working of the fan. Monitoring historical data of parameters of coal mines fan will help to analyze the working status of fans and predict possible failures hidden in fan. Real-time alarm monitoring system enables the operator to find the problems of the fan and resolve problems to ensure working of the fan in a reliable and stable way.In connection with the current situation of mining ventilation system, the mine main fan monitoring and control system was designed based on OPC(OLE for Process Control)and PLC of Siemens S7-300 on the example of a Xiyu coal mine.The article first describes theoretical content of the system, including the structure of coal mines fan,PLC, which is the core of the control system, and features and application of the protocol of OPC. Then this paper describes hardware design of this system, including the choice of PLC modules, hardware configuration and software design of PLC, and analysis of the relevant parameters of coal mines fan and their measurement methods. Finally, the communication mechanism on the basis of protocol of OPC is established and part of the codes are given in the article, and then design methods of real-time database and historical database are given, monitoring and management platform of monitoring and control system is designed on the basis of VB .The system is well-function after installation with the characteristic of easy_operation , safety.
