| In this paper, the research and development status of diluted magnetic semiconductor were described. The characteristics of nano-materials and their preparation methods as well as the research status and future applications of ZnO-based diluted magnetic semiconductor were introduced. The synthesize methods of nano-materials are very important to the properties of the material. A variety of synthetic methods were compared. Base on the homogeneous precipitation method, the optimal program of experiments were obtained by changing the preparation process .In the preparation process of sample using homogeneous precipitation route, the influences on the particle size of sample and its surface morphology were studied through comparing the molar concentration ratio of reactants, reaction temperature, aging time, the selection of dispersants as well as sintering temperature, washing order and drying temperature, the system pH value.In the modulation process of the doping concentration of manganese ions, the changes both in XRD and the surface morphology before and after the doping were compared. The valence of doped manganese ions were characterized. The influence on the magnetic properties of the sample and the blue shift of absorption spectra by the doping concentration of manganese ions were discussed finally. The magnetic measurements of samples obtained hysteresis loop map to prove that Mn2+ doped ZnO nano-powders after the sample has a room temperature ferromagnetism.
