PET/PTT bicomponent composite fibers have a wide market prospect in developing fluffy-type fabric product for its good mechanical, crimpment and elastic properties. Until now there was no systematic study on PET/PTT bicomponent composite fibers from spinning process to fibers characterization, so it has realistic significance to systematic study the molding process and properties of the PET/PTTbicomponent composite fibers.In this paper, we use PET and PTT as raw material and two kinds of methods for air compound and parallel compound, varies spinning velocities, different PTT intrinsic viscosities factors to discuss the relationship between molding process and fiber properties. It is very important to guide the molding process of PET/PTT bicomponent composite fibers.In this paper, we have completed the major aspects of the work as follows:Firstly, we use PET and PTT as raw material with the component ratio 60/40, 50/50, 40/60 of PET/PTT, with the intrinsic viscosities of 1.3 dL·g-1 and 1.0 dL·g-1 of the thickening PTT and no thickening PTT, with varies spinning velocities of 2000m/min, 2300m/min, 2600m/min, and use two kinds of methods for air compound and parallel compound to spin POY filament of the PET/PTT bicomponent compound fibers.Secondly, this paper analysis the stretching, orientation, thermal properties of POY, the result show that, under certain technology condition, with the increase of PTT component content, POY's breaking strength, degree of orientation and crystallinity decreased, while breaking elongation increased; with the increase intrinsic viscosities of PTT component, both of the breaking strength and breaking elongation increased, while the degree of orientation and crystallinity changed little; with the increase of spinning velocity, both of the breaking strength and degree of orientation increased while the breaking elongation decreased, we can get the best crystallinity when the spinning velocity is 2300m/min; also we can get POY with better breaking strength, high orientation and lower breaking elongation in the air compound situation, while it shows little different on orientation between air and parallel compound.Otherwise, this paper draw POY to get DT filament under the drawing ratio of 1.95, 2.2 and 2.35, with the hot plate temperature of 80℃, 95℃and 110℃, while the heating plate is 195℃and drawing velocity is 450m/min. study of the compound ratio, PTT intrinsic viscosity, compound methods, hot plate temperature and drawing ratio on the performance of DT. the result show that, under certain technology condition, with the increase of PTT component contents, DT's breaking strength, degree of orientation decreased, while dry and wet heat shrinkage and the elastic recovery properties increased, and the curled up first and then decreased; with the increase intrinsic viscosities of PTT component, DT's breaking strength, breaking elongation, elastic recovery properties, dry and wet heat shrinkage, and degree of orientation increased; comparing to parallel compound, we can get higher breaking strength and elastic recovery properties, good curie and orientateon, lower breaking elongation in the air compound situation; with the increase of the heating plate temperature, DT's breaking strength, elastic recovery ratio, curly rate and orientation decreased, while the breaking elongation and dry and wet heat shrinkage increased; with the increase of the drawing ratio, DT's breaking strength and orientation increased, while the breaking elongation, elastic recovery ratio and dry and wet heat shrinkage decreased, and the curled up first and then decreased. After drawing processs, both the breaking strength and degree of orientation of PET/PTT bicomponent composite fibers DT filament distinct increased while the breaking elongation decreased compared with POY filament.Finally, this papers analysis the crimp forming theory of PET/PTT bicomponent composite fibers. MATLAB simulation results show that in the air composite situation, the degree of crimp increased when we decrease the radius of single fiber or increase the free shrinkage and component ratio.
