As a kind of important types of wetlands, coastal wetlands are one of the highest global average amount of biologically productive ecosystems. However, the strong disturbance by human activities have been led to a series of resources and environmental increase, such as resources destruction, increases in environmental pollution, reduction of biodoversity. The ecological safety of coastal wetlands has been in danger. The contradiction between socio-economic development and ecological environmental protection has become more increasingly acute, so that can lead to deep-seated security issues of nature-the social-economic complex eco-system. For above reason, the research on ecological security of coastal wetland is becoming more important.In this paper, we use some theory and methods, such as LUCC, landscape ecology and ecological security. The study based on remote sensing images and the statistical data, using remote sensing (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) to study North Jiangsu coastal wetlands land use and cover change, landscape patterns and ecological security. The northern Jiangsu coastal wetland ecological security evaluation system is established, and the gray relation analysis model and multi-level weighted sum model are elected to evaluate the ecological safety. According to the results, some countermeasures are advanced to protect the ecological security of coastal wetlands.First, Land-use change information mapping model of wetlands in northern Jiangsu coastal is established on the basis of land-use cover models. According to the model analysis of coastal wetlands in northern Jiangsu Province land use dynamics, the law of LUCC is found in coastal wetlands in northern Jiangsu through 1983 and 2001, and land use change drivers are analyzed. The study is on the basis of the study of land use and cover change, from the perspective of landscape ecology, the use of landscape ecology in landscape pattern analysis method. Based on GIS and FRAGSTATS software, using various landscape pattern indicators, land cover landscape pattern and its evolution were analyzed in different periods, different landscape, and the evolution of landscape pattern were analyzed.On the basis of the comparison and analysis of various conceptive models and index system of regional ecological security evaluation, an evaluation index system of regional ecologic security is established by combining the AHP method with the PSR model. The index system consists of 3 sub-systems and 14 indexes. The evaluation standards and grade of regional ecological security have been established, and the ecological security situation in the study are has been evaluated. The results of regional ecological security show that the northern Jiangsu coastal wetlands ecological safety is in early-warning status. According to evaluation results, some countermeasures are advanced to protect the ecological security of coastal wetlands.In the end, the main research results and some problems awaiting solution in the dissertation are summarized. The difficulties in ecological security research and its general trend of development are discussed.
