The Study Of Opening Design In Winter Coolproof Apparel

Thermal function is one of the most important functions in cool-proof clothing worn in winter. Among a great numbers of influence factors, design on clothing construction, especially on opening design, is the crucial factor on performance of clothing thermal function. Many research works have been carried out to study clothing thermal function, however, studies on the relationship between clothing construction and thermal function is still limitation. For this reason, one explore research work are undertaken to study it based on the following works: (a) understanding the definition of clothing thermal function and construction design; (b) analyzing the effects of outer environment on body thermal regulation; (c) designing style based on the product in market and the former analysis results; (d) selecting the fabric and lining for sample making based on the results of material properties and requirements of clothing thermal function; (e) Conducting wear trails for subjective & objective assessment on the effects of construction design on performance of clothing thermal function. In the experimental works of wear trials, three sets of cool-proof clothing with the same style and material and different size design are used as clothing sample, which include outer top, vest and long pant. Subjects are required to wear these clothing according the designed six assembling types and run on the treadmill in the chamber. Based on different testing equipments, there are several kinds of data are collected, such as the breathe rate and body temperature. Meanwhile, a questionnaire is designed to collect the data on perception of wearer on performance of clothing thermal function. According to analysis results on subjective and objective assessment, the relationship between clothing construction and thermal function is studied, and the suitable design principles on opening and size of cool-proof clothing in winter are proposed, which is the foundation and guideline on functional design of cool-proof clothing and high-performance apparel.
