Sludge removal machine is a specific equipment of wastewater treatment equipments, and it is one of the key equipments in wastewater treatment process. The sludge removal machine with high efficiency and low consumption of materials can not only save equipment costs, enhance economic efficiency, reduce operation costs, but also ensure an optimum level of process.In this paper, by researching wastewater treatment equipments' and sludge removal machines' developments at domestic and abroad, it was pointed out that China's wastewater treatment equipments' research and development(R&D) obviously slower than the process, equipments' R&D is out of touch with technology research, lack of special equipments to adapt to the new type of technology. At present, it was found that currently sludge removal machines that can be applied to the new type of wastewater treatment process in China have outstanding defects, so the paper R&D a new type of sludge removal machine. The machine can be applied to all rectangular and flat sedimentation tanks.The machine is composed of side beam, main beam, suction tube, eduction tube, pump, driver system, etc. Suction tube and main beam are two key components of the new type machine. The suction uniform of suction tube has an important bearing on high-efficient work of the machine. How to design a uniform and high-efficient suction tube is a main work. After the fluid dynamics analysis of suction tube, the paper researches the factors which will affect suction uniform. The suction flow per unit length and suction uniform was put forward to measure the degree of suction uniform. The suction flow per unit length is a ratio of tube(hole) flow and length(distance); suction uniform is a ratio of minimum and maximum of all suction flow per unit length. According to analysis and calculation, two methods are proposed, which are suitable for engineering and have high degree of suction uniform. One is suitable for short suction tube, and another is suitable for long suction tube. Two methods' design processes are shown by project example.The main beam is another key component of the new type of sludge removal machines. How to design a saving material, energy and anticorrosive main beam is a main work. The paper has founded a mathematical model of truss structure optimization, and programmed program basing on matlab7.0 optimization toolbox. Combined with project application, the main beam's height, number of subsection and sectional area of chord and truss braces are optimized. It is proved that the optimization result is more safety by finite element analysis, so it is absolutely suitable for project application. Both the force analysis of optimization process and optimization program are done basing on parametric, so the method can be applied to other truss structure optimization design.Verified by project, the research theories of this thesis is of remarkable achievements. First, it has improved the working efficiency of sludge removal machine, and avoided floating mud of sedimentation tank. Second, it can save material of main truss by 20%~40%, so its economic benefit is considerable.
